The search continues for risk indicators of schizophrenia. Presently, one of the more challenging issues we face is unbridled enthusiasm for Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and polygenic risk scores (PRS) without full consideration of their implications. Despite schizophrenia affecting all ethnicities and countries, GWAS are not typically based on ethnically diverse samples. As such, they may be much less informative (and therefore less powerful) than they might otherwise be.
